Shaun Mickus

Shaun is a seasoned Communications, Public Affairs, Marketing, and Social Impact executive with a proven record of shaping enterprise strategy, guiding organizations through complexity, and delivering impact at global scale. Across Johnson & Johnson and Novartis, he led high-stakes initiatives that strengthened reputation, accelerated business priorities, and aligned diverse teams around a clear strategic vision.

He drove communications for three blockbuster pharmaceutical launches, built J&J’s enterprise ESG and sustainability framework and reporting architecture, oversaw social impact strategy and programming across several J&J businesses and regions, and led the company’s first United Nations Sustainable Development Goals commitment—an effort that reached 725 million people. Shaun is a trusted advisor to senior leaders, known for navigating ambiguity, managing issues and crises with composure, and elevating narratives that influence stakeholders across scientific, commercial, and public arenas.

His leadership style blends strategic clarity, intellectual rigor, and a collaborative, influence-driven approach. He excels in complex, matrixed environments, connects insights across functions, and builds high-performing teams that deliver with urgency and purpose.

Shaun earned his MBA in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University, his Master’s in Communication and Information Studies from Rutgers University, and his Bachelor’s in English and Communication from Rutgers College. He retired from J&J in March 2026 after nearly 30 years with the company – and 35 overall in the healthcare industry – and is actively pursuing purpose-driven community engagements and other opportunities to put his talents and passions to good use.
