When Jalen Burks left Lawrenceville, NJ, to attend Chestnut Hill College on a football scholarship, it was the first time he had been away from home. Things didn’t go as planned, and he returned home unsure of what would come next. “I was kind of depressed, honestly,” he shares. “I didn’t have my life figured out.” What followed was a dark period of uncertainty, until he found The Father Center of New Jersey.
“Things just weren’t working out for me at that time until The Father Center (of New Jersey) came along. It is an amazing, amazing organization. I know everybody who walks through is very grateful. I know I am very grateful. I was able to get my CDL Class A (commercial driver’s license)—and they made sure I had a suit!” With the support of TFCNJ, and his own determination, Jalen’s life changed.
